Emils Bio-Manufaktur wanted to do things entirely differently from the very start. In 2009, former management consultant Michael Wiese and former advertising executive Jens Wages quit their jobs to found Emils. They wanted to try it themselves. Without any prior experience. With nothing but a good palate. And the firm belief that convenience food doesn't have to be bad at all. That "ready-made" food can also be consistently free from organic additives. And because it was to become the most sustainable thing they had ever set in motion, they named it Emils — after Wiese's son, born in the year the company was founded.

And lo and behold: it worked. The concept of "consistently free from additives" sparked curiosity right from the start. And one sauce became many. And because we believe in the idea — and in the fact that more and more people are coming to appreciate food that is free from everything, and therefore tastes better — we keep going. New ideas, new products.
In 2015 we moved from Stuttgart to Freiburg and built a new production facility there. Goal: process and market regional products regionally. A sustainable product, sustainably made.
